Pet fostering is a great way you can support the work of your local Branch of the RSPCA. We are always looking for people who can give a little time and affection to animals that come into our care while we find them a permanent new home. Fosterers will normally look after these pets for anything from a few days to several weeks. The Branch takes care of the cost of any veterinary care that is needed and can also supply food, litter, bedding etc as required.
While fostering can be tough as you have to give the pets up after a short time to go to their new homes it is also immensely rewarding as you are able to give these pets what will often be the first safe and caring home they have had. Sometimes the opportunity also arises to become a long term fosterer as we occasionally get older pets that through no fault of their own are in need of a new home. Sometimes it is not realistic to be able to rehome these pets so instead we find them a fosterer who is happy to look after them through their ’sunshine’ months, or maybe years.
We are always looking for new fosterers and in particular need people who can foster dogs and puppies, cat and kittens, rabbits, and guinea pigs. So if you would like to find out how you can become involved as a fosterer please download, print and post back our .
