The Branch Today

The Branch is one of over 170 Branches of the Royal Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA). As a Branch we are a registered charity (registered number 208331) which operates under a set of Branch rules set by the RSPCA. We do not however receive direct funding from the RSPCA but instead raise money locally which is then spent locally on animal welfare work aimed at preventing cruelty and minimising suffering of animals.

The Branch has been operating in North West London for over 75 years and now covers most of the London Boroughs of Brent, Harrow and Hillingdon (North of the A40), as well as Watford, Rickmansworth, Chorleywood, Bushey, Oxhey, Radlett and St Albans in South Hertfordshire. We currently have three Animal Welfare Officers who respond to the many calls we receive each day from members of the public seeking assistance. These requests for assistance may range from arranging to take an animal in to be rehomed from someone who simply doesn’t want it any more to taking a pet to the vet for a house bound pensioner. Our Animal Welfare Officers are always willing to offer advice on the care of companion animals and if you have specific questions they are happy to discuss these with you, if they can not answer your query they will be able to direct you to someone who can. Our Animal Welfare Officers also work closely with the RSPCA Inspectors tasked to cover the Branch area who deal with serious cases of cruelty and neglect.

The Branch does not operate an animal home or a clinic. If you have an animal in need of rehoming you need to call our office for assistance. All the animals taken in for rehoming are either placed with our pet fosterers or go to boarding facilities we hire while we find them a new home. In some case we may arrange for animals taken in to be transferred to regional rehoming centre if this provides the best opportunity for that animal to be rehomed quickly. If you are looking to adopt a pet you can view the pets currently looking for a new home on the pet adoption pages then just email us or phone us to discuss adopting.

As we do not run a Branch clinic if you are on benefits or a pension and require assistance for your pet we will either arrange treatment through the RSPCA Kilburn Clinic or a local vet. To find out if you would qualify for assistance with treatment you would need to speak to one of our Animal Welfare Officers who can be contacted at our office by phone on (020) 8966 9688 during normal office hours. If you have an urgent query regarding animal welfare outside of these hours please call the RSPCA’s 24-hour emergency line on 0300 1234 999.
